Vadodara Accident Case: Law Student Who Killed One and Injured Seven Sent to Police Custody
A Vadodara court on Saturday granted police custody to Rakshit Chaurasiya, a law student accused of killing a woman and injuring seven others in a car accident that occurred on Thursday night. The court ordered Chaurasiya to remain in police custody for one day following a late-night hearing on Friday, as confirmed by the city’s police commissioner, Narsimha Komar.
In their remand request, Vadodara police told the court that further investigation was needed to clarify the circumstances leading up to the crash and to determine whether Chaurasiya was driving intentionally while under the influence of intoxicants. Additionally, the police are investigating Chaurasiya’s relationship with Praanshu Chauhan, the son of the vehicle’s owner, who was present in the car during the incident.
The court was informed that an inquiry was necessary to understand why Chaurasiya, and not Chauhan, was driving the car at the time of the accident. The police are also delving into Chaurasiya’s background and his associations with others present before the crash.
